Faculty Guide to Finding Corporate and Foundation Support

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) at SF State can help you create partnerships with and secure funding from foundations and corporations.

CFR staff will meet with you to learn about your work and to determine whether your project is a potential match for corporate or foundation funding.

We conduct research and work with our contacts to find funders that may be interested in your project. If we find a potential match, or if you have already identified a potential funder, we:

  • Assist you in preparing concept papers, letters of intent, and proposals, including helping you refine your project idea; providing strategies for developing your proposal or letter of intent; and editing your proposals.

  • Work closely with ORSP and UCORP to ensure a smooth submission process

We also arrange meetings with potential funders in their office or on campus, coordinating logistics, preparing you and participating with you in meetings with funders.

After securing a grant, we work with you to further develop your relationships with funders and to provide effective stewardship.

At our initial meeting with you, we’ll want to learn about your project, including its goals, activities, impact and/or outcomes, population served, geographic scope, and the approximate amount of funding needed.
