Empower Students

Everything offered at SF State — every major, every class, every campus organization— exists for one reason: learning. And the learners who make up our student body are diverse and determined. Seventy percent are students of color, and a great many come from low-income families. Often they resist family and economic pressures to join the workforce directly out of high school. Instead, they boldly forge new paths as the first in their families to attend college— setting an inspiring example for generations to come.

Many of these courageous young people stay in San Francisco upon graduating and make better lives for themselves and their families. They form the very economic backbone of the Bay Area and often go on to shape major business and non-profit sectors statewide, nationally, and beyond.

Through BOLD Thinking, we are paving the way for these hardworking students by easing the burden of student loans while increasing graduation rates. In addition to raising funds for scholarships, the campaign allows us to support the Student Learning and Achievement Center, which enhances academic advising and tutoring opportunities.
