The Institute for Innovation will provide resources such as incubator space, access to angel funding, scholarships, awards and an endowed chair to attract an exceptionally qualified leader. The Institute will also provide a much-needed platform to commercialize faculty and student intellectual assets university-wide that have the potential through patents and other means to become revenue-generating initiatives.
Situated in the heart of the tech industry, SF State provides Silicon Valley with its third largest alumni base of employees, an indication of the entrepreneurial drive among our graduates. As students, many have the capacity to formulate new business concepts and conduct related research in collaboration with faculty.
